Tanzania Society of Human Genetics (TSHG) is a non profitable organization that was conceptualized in 2017 with the aim of conducting and coordinating human genetics research, training, diagnosis and advocacy in Tanzania and to engage with similar partners across the globe. The society was formed with the goal of coordinating human genetics research and activities in Tanzania in order to generate knowledge and recommendations for the prevention of genetic diseases and promotion of health.
The TSHG inauguration conference
Date, venue and theme: TSHG was inaugurated during the 6th Tanzania Health Summit (THS 2019) on 28th November 2019 at Dodoma, Tanzania. The theme of the inauguration conference was “Biomedical research in Tanzania with emphasis on human genetics and genomics”. The conference was a highlight of the summit, attracting the attention of many participants. A total of 105 people participated including medical personnel, research scientists (both junior and senior) on health and genetics as well as students.
TSHG is honored to host the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) in September 2020, Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
