Hi everyone,
This is to announce the publication of a new book: "Genes for Teens", written by Dr. Nonhlanhla Khumalo of the Red Cross Children's Hospital of the University of Cape Town.
The book is written for teenagers and attempts to demystify genetics - as it pertains to daily life. Illustrated in full colour, it is an accurate scientific discussion (covering subjects like human reproduction, hormone effects on skin and hair, the biology of skin colour and its evolution) conducted in a light hearted voice that can be understood by the average teenager. A news item about the book can be found at the "Science in Africa" website: http://www.scienceinafrica.co.za/2008/october/genesbook.htm
The book is available at Amazon.com.
About the author: Dr Khumalo is a physician and scientist working in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a consultant at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and is founding editor of the South African Journal of Child Health. This is her first book specifically aimed at bringing the wonders of science to a young audience.
