Hello everyone,

As you all know, the next AfSHG conference will take place from March 13-15, 2009 in Yaounde, Cameroon. 

The theme for the conference is: “Human Origins, Genetic Diversity and Health”. The sub-themes are: 
- "Human Origins and Genetic Diversity", 
- "Chronic Diseases", (with a focus on cancer & the cancer/infection link, cardiovasuclar and metabolic disease, and mental health)
- "Medical Genetics", 
- "Pharmacogenomics" and 
- "Ethnicity, Appearance, Culture and Genetics". 

The meeting will be held in conjunction with the Cameroon Genetics Society. More information about the conference program, scientific sessions, abstract submission and travel will become available soon. 

As usual, the various committees will be soliciting input and submissions for the conference. Our collective efforts and hard work have contributed immensely to the success of all our past meetings. We look forward to each person's contribution in preparing and submitting abstracts, providing input for scientific sessions, encouraging students and young scientists to attend, seeking funding for travel for your students and post-docs, serving on panels, and in many other ways!
